Hi-Ground Launch
On the 22nd of April Hi-Ground proudly launched the project in Brisbane with a bang.
The evening was filled with many members of the community, harm reduction workers and peers from Hi-Ground, QuIHN, QuIVAA across the regions of the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast. Many thanks to other organisations such as QNADA, ConsciousNest, Queensland Mental Health Commission, Dovetail and The Loop for their support and attendance.
Across the night we ran a series of overdose response training using naloxone devices, everyone who participated received a free take home naloxone. Over 25 devices were given out which means 25 folks in the community are now equipped and ready to respond to an opioid overdose!
Our goal was to raise some funds to be able to complete the Hi-Ground drug card series, this was achieved through after party ticket sales, donations and merch sales. If you missed out on a Hi-Ground shirt on the night you can get in touch with one of the Hi-Ground team via hi-ground@quihn.org and we are able to print-to-order any of the shirts you love!
DJs Bones and Sista C spun tunes all night and got the dance floor started once the after party kicked off. The night was so memorable, and we are keen to do it again! Keep an eye on the Hi-Ground socials for the next event coming near you!
